This year I decided not to plant any vegetables in my garden but to plant flowers that would attract pollinators, especially butterflies. It has always been my little escape that I like to wander out to in the early mornings or late evenings. Several days ago I was checking out my flowers and I noticed this butterfly. It looked pretty beaten up as it fluttered from one bloom to another. I thought to myself, I see you little guy all worn from whatever storm you have been through. I feel you. I have been there too. Beat up, wings tattered, but determined to rise up and keep going. My mind thought about different people within in my community who have had to weather some type of storm this year. No doubt, sometimes it could be multiple storms at once. Maybe it is finances, health issues, work/life balance, relationships or the loss of a loved one. Whatever the “storm” may look like to you right now, can I encourage you with some reminders.
But God. Two words with so much power and hope.
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 ESV
I am so glad that we do not have to go on this journey alone. God is with us. He is our rock. When circumstances change and things are out of our control, he is our safe place.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. Psalm 62:6 ESV
When people hurt or disappoint us, we can lean on him. He is the greatest friend you can have.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 ESV
When we make poor choices and have chosen to wander away from him, he is the Good Shepherd that will lead us back.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. John 10: 14-15 ESV
Whatever storm you are facing, don’t let it take your eyes of the One who loves you most.
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Keep your head up,
